Small Business Sunday

Support Small Business

The other day I was talking with a friend about finding a customizable planner. After a few hours, my phone died that algorithmy spy thing where after you talk about something you want, it somehow later pops up on every social media or internet site you peruse. Soooo many planners popped up on my Instagram and Facebook feeds and most of them were products of small businesses.

A few hours later, I’m not sure whether I can attribute my results to algorithms or destiny (I choose to believe the latter), one of my IG besties reposts a friends customizable planner that they had bought but would be discontinued, I found out in private, due to low sells. That absolutely broke my heart. Seeing a product which is in such high demand, fizzle out all because of the lack of support. And at that moment, a light bulb went off above my head just like in a Looney Toons episodes and I made a conscious  decision to make as many of my purchases as possible from small business owners, and to encourage my followers to do the same.

Small businesses have been on the rise since the COVID-19 pandemic shook the world. We have seen friends and family turn lifetime dreams into present day realities by shifting their focus on creating new businesses. The increase in entrepreneurship that America has experienced has not only increased the Gross Domestic Product (GDP)  but it has absolutely turned up the creativity to an all time high.

From Tik Tok to Youtube and beyond I have witnessed some of the most unique talents turned into careers over the past two years. Jobs that I had no idea even existed have been bust wide open because someone decided to create a small business in their lane. Even businesses that seemed to saturate the market have made room for those who have found their own way of doing things and it’s amazing to watch.

According to a study by American Express, small businesses in the U.S. (defined as having fewer than 100 employees) are responsible for $4.8 trillion in GDP. That’s a whole lot of coins! And I want to do all that I can to help those coins and valuable products get into the hands of my besties!

My goal as an advocate for small business owners is to share your products and services and help you to increase you sales and visibility to a diverse group of consumers.
